Obituary of Edward Knought
Mr. Edward Knought
1948 - 2025
Edward (Ted) Knought, age 76, of Hornepayne, Ontario, died peacefully in his home on March 6, 2025. Ted was predeceased by his beloved wife Bridget (Bridie) McCoy (Dromintee, Ireland). He is survived by his sister; Colleen Halstead (Calgary, Alberta) and two daughters: Mairghread Knought (Brien) and Brenna Knought. He will be remembered as the proud grandfather of Keala, Nolan, Saoirse and Fintan.
Born on October 2, 1948, in Hornepayne to Margaret and Edward Knought, Ted spent his life surrounded by the people and places he loved. He was known for his easygoing nature, sense of humor, and deep appreciation for bluegrass music. A talented, self-taught woodworker, he found joy in working with his hands and took great pride in his craftsmanship. He also had a deep love for animals—especially dogs, with a soft spot for pugs—and an undeniable sweet tooth.
While fortunate to travel, it was an extended trip to Ireland in his late twenties that changed his life forever—he met and married his beloved Bridget McCoy of Dromintee, Ireland. After her tragic passing in 1981, Ted remained devoted to her memory, ensuring their daughters, Mairghread (Brien) and Brenna Knought, stayed connected to her family and Irish heritage. There is comfort in knowing that Ted and Bridie are now reunited.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Hornepayne, Ontario, on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Gilles Grandmont.
Ted will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
