We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Eric Koivisto on December 1, 2025, at the age of 62.

He is survived by his brothers, Raymond (Rosemary) of Thunder Bay and Veikko of Hearst. He will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, as well as his grandnieces, grandnephews, and one great-grandniece.

He was predeceased by his brother Alan (1949), his father Otto (1984), his mother Margareth Turner (1998), his sister Carol (2017), his brother Bill (2024), and his sister Selma (2025).

Eric held a variety of jobs throughout his life. He worked at several service stations, drove snowplows during the winter months, and operated gravel trucks in the summer. He began his career with the Ministry of Transportation in seasonal positions before securing a full-time role with MTO Highways in the early 2000s. Prior to the privatization of the highways division, he transferred to MTO Municipal, where he remained until his retirement on December 1, 2023.

Many will remember Eric as the co-founder of the DJ service “Night Move,” which he started with Denis Houle. After Denis left Hearst, Eric continued the business in partnership with Jean-Noël Frigo, with Andre England lending a hand on many occasions. Jean-Noël retired from Night Move in 2003, and Eric followed shortly thereafter.

Each year, Eric planted a garden of potatoes, generously sharing the harvest with family, friends, and neighbours.

He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and will be fondly remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

C’est avec regret que nous annonçons le décès de M. Eric Koivisto, survenu le 1er décembre 2025, à l’âge de 62 ans.

Il laisse dans le deuil ses frères, Raymond (Rosemary) de Thunder Bay et Veikko de Hearst. Il laisse également dans le deuil ses nièces et neveux, ainsi que ses petites-nièces, petits-neveux et une arrière-petite-nièce, qui garderont de lui de précieux souvenirs.

Il fut prédécédé par son frère Alan (1949), son père Otto (1984), sa mère Margareth Turner (1998), sa sœur Carol (2017), son frère Bill (2024) et sa sœur Selma (2025).

Au cours de sa vie, Eric a occupé divers emplois. Il a travaillé dans plusieurs stations-service, a conduit des chasse-neige durant les mois d’hiver et des camions de gravier en été. Il a débuté sa carrière au ministère des Transports dans des postes saisonniers avant d’obtenir un poste à temps plein au sein de MTO Highways au début des années 2000. Avant la privatisation de la division des routes, il a été transféré à MTO Municipal, où il a travaillé jusqu’à sa retraite le 1er décembre 2023.

Plusieurs se souviendront d’Eric comme du cofondateur du service de DJ « Night Move », qu’il avait lancé avec Denis Houle. Après le départ de Denis de Hearst, Eric a poursuivi l’entreprise en partenariat avec Jean-Noël Frigo, avec l’aide occasionnelle d’André England. Jean-Noël a pris sa retraite de Night Move en 2003, et Eric a fait de même peu de temps après.

Chaque année, Eric cultivait un jardin de pommes de terre et partageait généreusement sa récolte avec sa famille, ses amis et ses voisins.

Il laisse derrière lui une vie remplie de précieux souvenirs et demeurera à jamais présent dans le cœur de sa famille et de ses amis.
