Obituary of Joseph Spence

We regret to announce the death of Mr. Joseph Spence on Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at the age of 83 at Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst.  He was the beloved father of 10 children; Madeleine Kioke (François Carpenter) from Fort Albany, Lucy Okitiquo (David Kataquapit) from Attawapiskat, Nathalie Moore from Constance Lake, Annie Spence (James Aubertin) from North Bay, Ernest Spence (Melanie Miller) from North Bay, Peter Spence from Constance Lake, Mary Spence (Serge Brunelle) from Hearst, Cindy Spence from North Bay, Jeannie Spence from Hearst and Charlie Spence from Constance Lake.

Joseph also leaves behind 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his wife; Agnes (born Tookate) Spence and his parents; Annie (born Chookomoolin) and Rapheal Spence.

Joseph was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was a valued employee at Lecours Lumber, worked at the pond station and pilled lumber for 22 years.  He was loved and respected by his co-workers, his peers and many people that he met over his life.  He was a good-spirited gentleman who enjoyed having fun with both natives and non-natives.  He loved to play the violin and jigging, was a great story teller and loved the outdoors.  He had a great sense of humor and always had a positive outlook on life.  He will be terribly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Joseph Spence will be resting at Fournier Funeral Services on Monday, December 13th, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.  The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Hearst at 1 p.m.

We thank you for keeping Mr. Spence's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
